The Full Story
A Distinct Identity
@HOME, nestled in the heart of Charlotte, NC, was birthed from the fervent passion and vision of our founder, Danielle Allen. It's a beacon for single parents, drawing inspiration from the profound words of the Savior:
Matthew 25:35-40 (tpt)
"For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me... Truly, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me."
We are not just an organization; We are a community, a community that chose to take a stand, to walk a mile in another's shoes, and extend a helping hand just as we would want in our times of need. We are mentors, believers, trailblazers, and ordinary souls with boundless love, prepared to invest our time, efforts, and resources to uplift others, revealing their true God-given potential.
The spark for @HOME ignited as a simple thought. The Lord fanned it into a blazing vision as Danielle began to discern a pressing need amongst her peers. The struggles of single parents, many of whom found more security in welfare than the unpredictability of low-paying jobs, resonated deeply with her. Danielle herself had walked that path, experiencing first-hand the dilemma faced by many: choosing immediate sustenance over long-term dreams, often dictated by circumstances beyond their control.
It became apparent that many found themselves in this plight not out of choice, but because life dealt them a challenging hand. Whether it was an interrupted education, lack of vocational skills, or the absence of a supportive system, their dreams were stifled. Many felt trapped, some succumbed to despair, while others faced even graver challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.
Danielle's heart ached, and in prayerful communion, she sought guidance. She envisioned a sanctuary, distinct from government-run initiatives, driven by genuine heart and soul. A sanctuary that steps in when others step out, where people are more than statistics, treated with the dignity and love they deserve.
At @HOME, our ethos is simple: everyone is someone. We believe in the power of family – a unit that nurtures, guides, supports, and uplifts. Through our efforts, we want you to know: You are not alone. Your life has purpose. Your dreams matter. And above all, in the eyes of the Lord and in our hearts, you are cherished.
